I issued a command /etc/initd/mysql.server sop,
then
start
and now I am getting

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

fixed. I had to kill all the mysql.d and /etc/initd/mysql.server start.

Still going crazy over server slowing down....
