Im not having a very good day. Can someone please tell me what this is, I aint got a clue what I have done?

Is this happening all the time or just once? Did you make any changes to your config.php? Seems to me that the mysql server was not available which means that this is most likely a server issue. Have you contacted your host?

have you tried restarting mysql ?

do in telnet as root user

locate mysql.sock


and what resulting paths are given

Hi M8's,
For some unknown reason the path to the mysql.sock was commented out in the my.cnf file but I have not been no were near it.

It was a strange one and my server host found the problem after a few hrs of trying.

Thanks all, its nice to see there are people out there willing to help out.

are you usuing a control panel like cpanel ? maybe there's a default my.cnf that the control uses when rebooting the server ?
