I am a bit confused about setting this up as I want. I will first explain what i want.

I want two private forums. The title of the forum needs to be visible to everyone but only lets the people who are meant to be in it, into it.

1) Moderator Forum:

This should only allow moderators, supermoderators and admins into it.

2) Admin Forum:

This should only allow admins into it.

--------------------------

So in the configuration I set to View and Reply to Yes and then Private to Yes as well for the Moderator Forum. I then set View Private Forums to YES in the category display options.

But I am not quite sure how this all works. In USER groups and permissions it does not seem to explain how is going to be let in. I have the auto generated moderators but under their categories is not included the moderator category.

Any ideas on how I do this? Or do i need to add each preson i want into the forum manually?

Thanks.

okay all you do is create 2 forums

mod forum
admin forum

go to modify these 2 new forums and check the private forum to yes box for both. At this moment only mods and admins can view, post, reply and edit their posts - no regular member/visitor/guest can see, view or post in these 2 private forums.

Go to the admin panel last options, for modify forum permissions.

go to edit each of these 2 new forums ie.

mod forum - edit forum permissions. you will see categories for

auto generated mods, registered users, coppa awaiting users, users awaiting email confirmation etc.

you will see the 2 private forums mod forum and admin forum listed under each of these categories.

Edit each of mod and admin forums as you see fit under each category..

i.e. if you want the mod forum viewable by registered users only - edit forum under registered user category and say yes to view forum and no to can post, reply etc.

Yeah, this is what i thought would happen but the new forums in the modify forums in user groups and permissions only came up under the standard usergroups (ie admin, super moderator, coppa etc) the option did not come up under the generated moderators.

So i assume for each generated moderator i need to add a forum permission for the admin forum to keep them out but the moderator forum should be fine without doing anything (won't it?)

Thank you, it is not the most "easy to use" system but i guess that is why it is being updated for the next version.

Thanks for the help everyone.
