User database integration

Is it possible to integrate the user database from vBulletin into a custom user database used throughout the rest of a site?

Has anyone had any success with this?

You can add fields as you want to the user table in the forum database as you need, without affecting the operation on the vBulletin scripts. However, we would not be able to provide support.
