Not that I'm I a big fan of everything Microsoft does (ahem...), but how possible would it be to incorporate the Passport feature into vbulletin?

Maybe this way it will be easier for vbulletin members to go to any website where there is a vbulletin and not have to sign up for each one.

Of course if there is a better method out there, please share!

I dont think this is very possible.

Try talking to microsoft first - I doubt that you will even get a reply.

Actually Microsoft has a Passport SDK available. You can look on MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com) for more information.

Also I remember reading somewhere that they plan on charging between $1000 and $10,000 for the license to use Passport on your site and gain access to the millions of existing Passport members. Contact their sales department about this.

"between $1000 and $10,000 for the license..."

Gosh, maybe if I had that kinda money I'd do it. Then again that could be used towards a nice car or something!

But thanks for bringing up that information. :)

I just found out Microsoft is *REQUIRING* users of it's bCentral service to use Passport for access beginning December 2001.

That means one would also need to sign up for their HOTMAIL service as well to use Pissport.

Where's the choice in all this? "Resistance is FUTILE..."

Well considering it's their service, I would say they can require anything they want. If you don't like it, walk.

BTW who told you that you have to have a Hotmail addy to use Passport? That's not true.

Walk where?

Regarding Hotmail and Passport, you're right and I'm wrong. But if you have Hotmail then I believe you are already registered for Passport.

Maybe it's Messenger that requires a Hotmail account...
So many rules in their TOA it gets confusing!

Well, yes, by registering for Hotmail you are registering for Passport with a free email account thrown in.

And yes you need a Hotmail address to use Messenger because they said so. Again if you don't like it, don't use it.
