Love it - adore the colours.....

How did they do that nice little white line inbetween the blue boxes of the forum so it makes them seem 3D ? And that nice gradient in the table... Looks so good...

Anyone got any hints and tips on how to recreate this look?

Thanks!

Timbo

View the source if you want to know how someone did something.

Seeing as this is a community and you're asking for some help...I'll try to help instead of casting you aside with some vague answer.

What they are doing is using images instead of background colors.

For example, make an image 1 pixel in width and approximately 30 pixels in height and add some effects to it like bevel and emboss/gradient overlay and then tell vbulletin, via your control panel, to use that image instead of a color.

So in your control panel change Category Strip Background Color to point to the image you just made instead of just a hex code for a color.

Use Replacement Variables add find the section you would like to change and edit it to read:

"{ imagesfolder }/image.jpg

Note the quotation marks...it needs to look exactly like that (except for the spaces in between the {'s).

He wants to know how they achieved the 3d look. They did not achieve it with a background image.

Its done with styles in the table.

bordercolorlight="#074B97" bordercolordark="#E6FAFC"

If you had followed my "vague" reply you would have the answer.

Settle down kids...

If you want to learn something, the best way is to teach yourself... not have code handed to you on a platter. So timbo, if anyone's a "tosser", it certainly isn't Corey.

This is the 3 D Borders I was wanting - which files do I edit to make all my borders look like this ??

http://www.joeygowdy.com/forum/preview-3d-borders.html

<td>
<table cellpadding="4" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="100%">
<tr id="cat">
<td bgcolor="#A3A3CB" style="BORDER-RIGHT: #606096 3px solid; BORDER-TOP: #E7E7F1 3px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #E7E7F1 3px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #606096 3px solid;"" colspan="6"><font class="nf" color="#000000">
<b>
<center>
<font class="nf">
<a href="=">3 D Borders</a>
</font>
</center>
</b>
</td>

Does a style have to go with it (css style) ?

Guess instead of asking that -

I should ask WHAT FILES do I have to change ?

And whats the line of code I need to enter for it to work ?

While I aggree Corey isn't a "Tosser" there was absolutely no reason for him to give such a vague answer to someone who was only looking for help. If you are going to give help, you might as well help them, instead of just saying "View Source"...

Said that, a little argument why, was missing.

View the source of that document, it will probably be there either through a style setting or by setting a table variable. (something like that).
