I love the new vBulletin v2 and so do all my customers who use my forum, but many have noted that the new forum loads a lot slower than the old one. I think it'd be a good idea for the vBulletin coders to go through all of the vBulletin source one week and squeeze it for all its worth to get every unneeded byte out :-) I know im being picky here, but many people still use modems and I think its also in the best interest for vBulletin to ensure that their software remains of high speed :-)
Thanks,
Wayne

Maybe on your server, yes. But not on my server. Vb2 seems to be somewhat faster. (I wouldn't use "a lot" here.)

The speed of vBulletin being processed by PHP on the server has very little to do with how fast the end-user's modem downloads it. You can compact the HTML in the templates to 1/10 of their size and it would sure load faster, without any PHP editing. (I wouldn't recommend this, however.)
That said, we heavily optimize every aspect of the code to make it run as fast and efficiently as possible.
