Hi--me again. :) I have to say that we are impressed so far with the testing of this new software. One problem we experience from time to time, though, is that new threads upload instantly, but replies to threads take forever. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Larry

are you on a dedicated server or a virtual host?

Are you running any hacks?

no hacks, this is on a semi-dedicated server. Here's another interesting glitch: If I start a thread, it uploads right away. I can reply to that thread, the replies upload immediately too. However, if someone else starts a thread and I try to reply to it, the reply takes forever to upload.

Top. Still trying to figure this one out.

Larry, I went to your site....dude...you have some server problems! I would strongly suspect that your problems have nothing at all to do with Vbulletin. It took a full 3.5 minutes to load your index.html page. Get on the horn with your host. There's something WRONG there.

the aforementioned server slowness is the reason we're switching to vbulletin...with over 60k posts in the live UBB, the server gets horribly bogged down around 8-11pm. perl & the filesystem just can't keep up.

we've narrowed the problem down to the email system. apparently vbulletin is blocking on the email send function. this causes the post-reply function to time out. any hints on configuring the smtp server? it's an NT box otherwise i'd just use sendmail.
thanks in advance
