Hacked

TEAMXBOX.com was hacked yesterday. What's up with that? Is vbulletin that easy to hack? Are their plans to improve security? I'd hate to see my site get shut down like theirs did.

What version were they running? There are known security issues with pre-2.0.3 versions.

Other than that there are many ways to hack into a server that have nothing to do with vBulletin security holes. Admins can be careless with their passwords, servers can be hacked, etc.

Its unlikely that the vB it self got hacked, prolly the server admin had a easy pass, or used the same password on another site. It proves the admin is a dumbass but doesn't prove a hole in vB..

Also, there have been several security holes discovered in the past few months that are quite signifigant, that affect many webhosts.......


I had a server compromised just a few days ago....

It probably was the server. I dont know why I listen to the members. What the hell do they know.

Just to let you and other members know, there are other precautions an admin can take to secure up his board even more incase there ever is another hole found in vB security...

One major thing would be to .htaccess your mod and admin dirs with a username and password not used on forums. That way if an admin's pass is compromised, they could only damage threads and not the entire board.....
