View Full Version : vbulletin.com down --> admin panel main page down

A few minutes ago, I could not access to my admin panel main page because it could not load vbulletin.com/version/version.gif?id=xxxxx, just because vbulletin.com was down.
Would it be possible to put the version.gif image at the bottom of the page so I can still approve members in the case vbulletin.com is down for hours (something I don't hope!).
Thanks.

Of course I think it is always possible that vbulletin.com can be down for several hours, like for any server.
I had 4 emails from people who asked me why they could not post and I just could not validate their registration because of this trouble. It must be very rare but when it happens, it is annoying.
I am maybe the only one who reported that problem because it happened I was trying to validate some members during this short downtime but you would get dozens of posts here if lasted longer.

Technically, your browser should time out on loading the graphic and finish loading the page if it can't be found or returns an error like a Domain not found.
I have had no problems accessing my control panels when I can't access the forums or site here meaning the Apache server isn't responding. These were known downtimes as well.

Wayne,
You are right when the server is totally down, but it stays like that for many minutes when the server is *almost* down before getting a blank page. Like when some advertising banners on top of the forums can't be completely loaded (so you can't see the whole page).
