i am going to go for the $85 option...
After a year do you have to pay more money to carry it on or can you just stop using it after a year? ?

If you want to continue using the software you'd have to pay for another year - or convert to an 'unlimited' license.

Usually you'll get an email with your customer number and password within a few minutes after ordering. Once you have those you can download the software in the Member Area.
I have heard of some people running into delays getting their orders processed. This is usually because of slowness at Digibuy which handles the transactions.

What if we buy the $85 option, wait a year, and then want to upgrade? Do we have to pay another $160 (or how ever much it is) or do we just pay the remaining $80?

The only deal we have like this is if in the first 30 days after buying the leased license, you want to upgrade, you can for $85 (instead of $160). But there is no discount if doing it after the first 30 days.

But if we pay $160 originally, we only have to pay $30 at the end of the year - and that's only to get to the member center again, right?

Yes, at this time the cost to update your license for another year is only $30. And that gives you the right to continue to access the Member Area and download updates for that year.

...but you don't have to pay that - if you don't want the new versions, you can still legally run the $160 version forever.
