I have 98 users waiting for email notification and they claim they received email notification. Anyone else having this problem? What might be the cause? As a temporary measure I enabled priviliges for user's waiting email notification.

Obvious question - did they click the link and get the confirmation that they were verified?

so members enter invalid email addresses, some just forgot to check their emails and some just wanted to peek at my board :(

There are no instructions whatsoever regarding clicking on a link. What is the email suppose to say? What is it that memebers are suppose to do? Here is what my validated email looks like:

Side note: what is the real value of approving all users beforehand, aside from making sure they do not use lewd and/or offensive usernames?

well it's to stop spammers or trolls who intend to use a fake account to spam the forums... deterrence :D

the first line of defense :lol

Is that really a problem for most boards? It would have to be a big deal for me to start moderating all new users...I think it makes it less likely that someone will register and become an active poster.

well for entertainment sites like ours probably not... but some corporate sites or businesses might find it handy :)

We only pre-approve COPPA users at SitePoint. For everyone else they have to go through myself and Eric. I think we handle it fairly well.

Due to a problem with trolls, we're moderating all new registration requests.

The CP tells me there are no users awaiting Moderation, but I see there are members in the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" category.
What am I missing?
