Just one question before I switch to your product (which will be in about a month, I think)...
One of your competitors - i'm sure you can guess which one - requires that their copyright tag remain intact at both the bottom of the page, as well as in the page title.
Does vBulletin require this as well? Or are we free to remove the vBulletin copyright notices?
Thanks in advance.

You have to keep some kind of reference to vB
I believe that you can change it somewhat, to fit in with the rest of your site, but something MUST be there.

The bottom mention "vBulletin 1.1.3 © 2000, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited" must stay. The one in the title I
think is allowed to be changed. You can change the location of the message mind you, but it should be visible.

It's their right and all...and the program is STILL TOTALLY WORTH IT - but I don't think we should have to keep that message intact for any kind of paid version...

That's my thing too, TWTCommish. I won't mind it as much here, because I'm not paying quite as much. But when I pay freaking 200 greens for a license, I better be able to turn the thing on it's head and use it to chant to Zoroaster if I feel like it. I should especially be able to just remove a copyright notice.
But, alas, I won't do it. If it's your rule, it's your rule. Much as I disagree with it, I'll live I suppose. :)

$160 actually I believe. :) Or did it go up?
It's worth it anyway....just a minor annoyance.

The only way that the price can be kept low is that vbulletin does not need to advertise, hence the need for the link. It is probably the main reason most of us got here, using a vbulletin board somewhere.

Perhaps...no one can say for sure what kind of impact is has...but dumping the link would make it even more appealing to UBB owners.
It's not a major issue, but some people are very turned off by things like that...I'm not totally.

Well it was how I found it. Unfortunantly, a cost cgi script never really gets high in the cgi resource sites (like cgi-resources.com) because there are not enough free users voting for it (although there is free version, most people who have SQL hosting are not going to use a free version).
I understand why people would want it removed, especially if installing the board for a client. Perhaps vBulletin may let you eventually (if you pay more) but it dosen't worry me really. If i see a modified board that i can not see as instantly vbulletin then the little notice at the bottom makes me think "arr.. good".

I understand...however I plan to link to and thank vBulletin and the these forums when my site fully launches on a sort of 'Special Thanks' page...I think most of us would gladly do the same even if not required to.
Anyway, I'd love to hear John's reaction to all of this - I hope he isn't offended.

TWTCommish if you are going to do that why would you want to remove the link? or are you thinking about it for other people who would - which makes sense.
I would think that another good option would be an affilaite program. We get paid say $10 would be fair, per registered board. Then the sites would not only add that link but probably make it stand out even more (with little 88x31 buttons) if they made some.
What do you think, i think an affiliate program would be a great idea for them to set up personally. Comments?

Well it's more convienent for me to have links to things like that all on one page: a Special Thanks page...a copyright notice on the bottom is different. For me, it's a bit more inconvienent.
It's not a big deal, just something I think they should change.
