How much space does vBulletin start at once you install it?

approximately 1 Mb. once you start getting members and posts, it will start to take up more space.

My forum has ~11,000 members and 1.1 mil posts and it takes up about 3 Gb of space. Once your forum gets that large, though, you're on a dedicated server, so space is not a huge consideration :)

But backing up your database would be .. pain, I guess?
