how to change Cookies valid time ?

I can't figure this one out either. 900 what? I'm assuming 900 seconds. That would mean 15 minutes.

I don't fully understand what it does. What is the cookietimeout? And don't tell me that "This is the time that a user must remain inactive before the unread posts are reset to read." Give me an example, please.

One thing that drives me crazy is after I view a thread, the little icon next to it in the forum view still shows that the thread has new posts. Is there a way to fix this. It is really annoying.
