Hello,

My name is Blair, I am from NSW Australia

I have been asked to create a forum, and have not had any experience with uploading web pages etc. I have been a user of forums previously, and understand how they operate from that point of view.

Basically I am starting from scratch, and would like to know where to go from here.

Is there some sort of 'Dummies Guide' that I can look at to get a start on this?

Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Blair

Welcome!

I would suggest you start by reading the threads marked as sticky at the top of this forum. It holds valuable information to potential buyers of vBulletin licenses. Additionally, I'd suggest you test the vBulletin Admin demo mentioned within those stickies.

Best of luck with your investigations. :)

Welcome Blair.

You might have to purchase a license first as vB software isn't free.

Once you have done that, then you can have a look at the user manual

Thanks for the replies guys,

schwab2clarkson, I realize there is a fee for the Vbulletin software, It seems very reasonable for what you are getting!

Fusion, thankyou for directing me to the stickies, I am still confused as to how to publish the forum to the internet, can I just purchase the software and upload it to my domain? Or is it more complicated than that?

Once again, thankyou for your help.

Yes, it's as simple as uploading the files to the web-server and running the install-script.
The web-server has to comply with the requirements mentioned in the stickies, eg. MySQL version (the database) and PHP version (the script-language vBulletin uses).

Any further detailed assistance will be available to you in the How Do I, Installation or Troubleshooting sections after you've made the plunge and purchased a license.
