I knew it would happen - sigs are getting bigger and bigger now, and it's making the pages look a little cluttered, will only be a matter of time before people compete to have the sig that stands out the most  I don't want to turn off sigs completely as it's interesting to see what people put in them sometimes.

Can we revert to the rule where you can have 4 lines of standard text OR an image? That worked fine for years. Also apologies to all using text and images, and non standard fonts/sizes in sigs - don't mean to be a killjoy, just prefer a nice clean page to read :o.

Why are signature images limited to 300 width, when text can be obviously larger?

That is the decision we made many years ago. It's rather odd to question it now but we feel that an image is not equivalent to text.

having it 300x100 is not a good proportion, graphically and artistically talking... 234x60 pixels is perfect... 120x90 is good also... ;)

Because we decided that it made signatures too cluttered when we made the rules for this site.
