I like the style I have as my default theme, but it has a small problem, heh

When viewing the site in Internet explorer, the site is slow to load, I'm told it's because the entire page is wrapped in a huge table? Does that make sense to anyone?
If so, is there a possible solution anyone could suggest?
40% of the people who visit my site use IE, so no doubt it's slow for all of them
Firefox on the other hand has no issues, it loads fast for me and those who use it.
