I had a troll do a one day vandalism on my boards and he flooded my visitor message wall. I got worried that he might have trashed other people's visitor message area and I tried to track down his other visitor messages. Wasn't able to.

So think it is time for at least an admin or moderator function to search for all visitor messages by a user so we can delete, and moderate.

There should be a spam-check overview page where admins/mods see everything created/posted/sent/uploaded by X user (all on one page):

Threads
Posts
Album images
Signature
Homepage URL in profile
Visitor messages
Private messages (yes, spammers use private messages too, and they know by default admins can't easily see PMs)
Profile pic
Avatar
Anything posted in the blog addon
Anything posted in the Project tools addon
Attachments
What did I miss?

We should also be able to delete all of this and ban the user with one click.

There is nothing to search for them. However there is a link to delete all visitor messages by a user in the Quick Links dropdown when you view their profile in the Admin CP.

That's not very useful when a good user for one reason or another (bad day/hacked) goes rouge.

I rather have a search result and the checkbox to delete the ones I'm interested in, or to just monitor the doubious activities of a dodgy troll

Hi

I need this too. We have more and more spammers, who post in the Visitor Messages their URL.

We need an approach fom 2 sides:

1. Beeing able to search for a specific or unspecific URLs in all user profile Visitor Messages and replace them with i.e. **** or competely delete the URL or the Visitor Messages itself with one click.

2. A search function for all Visitor Messages of one specific poster/user. Also here delete with one click all of those spam Visitor Messages.

Is there any workaround so far for #1 ?

Can you post a screenshot of this feature? I do not find it.

Admincp > Users > search for users > $username > (left column) (dropdown) delete all visitor messages

You cna also go to the users public profile and press on "edit user profile" and then do the column > dropdown > delete...

snoopy also for the **** doesn't the censored words do just that automatically?

Hi

thanks, but this requires that only the admin can do that, not a Supermoderator and you have to know in advance, who the spammer is.

What about the case, if someone registers with different usernames at the same time and I know only of one of them? All other spams would be undetected.

The blacklist of words only works, of you know the word and its writing in advance. But if the spammer for example uses spaces inbetweens the letters, the blacklist is worthless.

Why the search function does not work for visitor messages. They are public, so why it is not included in the search results?

This is why I asked for the stuff below:

I second this request. We really need better searching for such things. Also mass deleting all messages caused a bug on my site which I reported a while back.

Admins, Moderators, and Super Moderators can list all new visitor messages from their User CP. It is listed under moderation near the other recycle bin technology.

Or change it globally under vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> User Profile: Visitor Messages.
