I spent time searching this forum for answers to my two issues but couldn't find any, so I apologize if this has been asked before.

Import = Clean
Source Board = vB 3.7.3
Target Board = vB 3.8.2
No sql or import error

I did a clean import of a vb forum that had ~10,000 members to a bare vb forum, and after the import I have 19,000 members. When I went and looked at the users there's an entire set of duplicate users with "Imported" in front of the username. For example, I have a user called "Demo" and then another user called "Imported-Demo". Is there a way to purge the duplicates users? If not, it's not a huge problem.

But a bigger problem is that although my forum looks like it's full of threads and posts, when I click on a thread it says "No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator". I followed the steps per the usage guide (and the Final Important Steps), updated my counters, checked usergroups, and so on... I also went and looked in the database itself, and all the posts are in there.I put two screenshots below. But I'm stumped on how to fix it. One is of my forum, and the other is what I see when I click on a thread.

Thanks for the help.

If I need to do the import all over again, I'm willing to do that. And to start all over, all I have to do is click Import -> Delete Session and all imported data? Or will that just make things worse?

Why were you importing? Was this in lieu of upgrading?

No, a friend wanted someone to take over his forum so the community wouldn't lose all of the information. He's going to let his domain expire and thus didn't want all the forum posts/threads be lost. So I got a new vB forum so I could import his into it.

I uploaded his database to my server, then imported it from there.

Did you follow the 'After the Import' instructions here:

Yes I did. I think I know what happened. There were duplicate forums, so I went through and deleted the duplicates. And I think in doing so I deleted the forums that have the posts and threads in them. Because I just noticed I can view the posts/threads fine in one of the forum categories (only for one category/forum). But it's strange I can see the threads when I'm looking at my overall forum. I only can't see them when I click on them. Is there a way I can start over without causing more problems?

Are you sure you updated the thread and forum counters? If so, then I'm afraid this sounds like bad data.

Ya I tried updating the counters several times. Troubleshooted it using guides by you and others in this forum. When you say "bad data", how can I go about fixing that? Like I said I'm willing to start over, I just don't know how to do it. I think the error was on my end during the import because I had to redo some of the modules.

The only way I know to fix this is to restore a backup of your database from prior to this import attempt and try the import again from the beginning.

Ok, thank you. I will try.

Re-doing some of the modules appeared to fix the issue :). I have duplicate forums again, but I'll be more careful fixing that issue this time around.

Thanks for responding to my thread and offering support.
