What is destination for migrated database?

I uploaded a backed up copy of my old forum database - ipb.sql - using Core FTP into a folder named "dump" on my new server to test my new vBulletin software.

I want to use Impex to convert it from IPB.

Where do I actually need to place that database file, and what is the "source" configuration for that file (localhost?). Is there a separate mysql server?

Make a totally new empty database, and import the ipb.sql into it. You don't need the ipb files ..

It's almost 1GB in size and does not easily import through the browser. I started it last night and it didn't finish, at all.

I'm assuming I need to import it through Impex, right?

ask the host to import it from shell.

Got it worked out and I am importing from Impex.

My username/password info was incorrect, and my source had to be XXXXX.com (my site).
