I need to borrow a thread for an example http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1766047#post1766047

There is a thread over at vbulletin.org about urls and people coping them from other forums. So I needed an example of how VB can make a URL short by inserting periods.

What happens - people copy the shortened links, post them in other forums. And then the link is broke in the second forum.

What are you asking for exactly?

It's designed in this way so that it keeps the page tidy. If people don't copy the link in its entirety, then obviously it won't work. - And imo this is their fault/problem.

Copy/pasted from vb.org

The first link is to the thread, the second link is from the thread its self. Hover over the links and you will see its a broken link. That is because I copied it from vbulletin.com

It is NOT broken. It has absolutely nothing to do with the link being from another forum. I've all ready explained a couple of times that it has to do with whether or not you copy it into the WYSIWIG editor or not.
