where the user is on or off?

In the forums it show the user on or off, by using the on or off graphic, what code is this ,because I want to add this to my templates

You mean the little graphic that shows in the date/time area of a post table? There is a setting in the options area of the admin cp to enable or disable "On/Off" markers, this is where you'll find that setting.
