I tried three times to upload and upgrade. All three times I went through the five steps and all it showed was 3.8.0. I even went so far as to download a fresh copy of 3.8.1. I FTPd everything but the Config and Install/Install files. Now I have a problem with the session table. I should tell you that somehow, (I still haven't figured out how), the main folder titled vbulletin_3.8.1 somehow got uploaded right at the beginning. I deleted it from the server and went through the upgrade normaly. A day later I had to go into the server and manually dump the table in order to get my forum back up and running. I was going to revert the footer, but the revert button was dimmed meaning I couldn't click it and also until I tried to upgrade there was no issue. Any ideas?

You need to upload the install folder, if you do not you're not getting the new upgrade files.

I thought the instructions said to not upload the Install/Install.php? That was the only file I was referring to. I will try it again and see what happens. Thanks, Zachery!

Do not upload install.install.php. You do need to upload all the rest of the files in the install directory though.
