I have the option of "Allow New User Registrations" set to NO.

Yet the Index.php page still displays the following:

If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ by clicking the link above. You may have to register before you can post: click the register link above to proceed. To start viewing messages, select the forum that you want to visit from the selection below.

Is this an error?

Shouldn't vb NOT display this, if New registration option, has been disabled?

I have new users who keep on clicking on the "register" link (in the above text) only to be frustrated with being told only LATER that they can't register. So users are being TEASED to register and then when they try they can't.

Question:
Is there any way I can disable or delete the text about registering?

The issue is not about "being safe" or not.

The issue is that such text should not be displayed if registration is disabled.

And if this is a VB bug, how can I remedy it, to delete the text.

I also wonder if this is a VB Bug, in version 3.8 too, and if this bug will be there in version 4 too?

ACP > Language & Phrases > Search in Phrases, using the [search for phrase variable only] option search for the phrase variable first_visit_message.

Click 'Edit', and modify it to suit. Click 'Save'.

Thanks!
That worked!

But I am just curious. Am I correct that this is an error in the design of VB that the system should know that if New Registration is turned off, then such text should not be displayed?

If anyone has a later version then version 3.6, can they confirm if this error also exists in all other version too?

Should this be reported as a Bug or as a suggestion?

Thanks

Umm, an oversight perhaps - and it would certainly make a good suggestion :)
