Hello,

I would like to hide user login names on my forum and display nicknames instead. I added a custom filed "Nickname" in the admin but now I sticked. Is there any easy way to do such modification? I tried to simply change default field for fetch_musername() function but that doesn't worked out as it should.

I don't think there's an easy way to do this - the username is referenced in too many places.

Is it safe to override the default field for user name in the fetch_musername() function in functions.php file? It seems like this function is used in most places that works with username, so by changing it I will get about 70% of my goal done.

I'm not sure if you'll have access to the profile fields everywhere that function is called. If not then you'll have places where it'll simply not display anything.

I recommend you search or ask for help with this on www.vbulletin.org though, as we can't support modifying code.

For unknown reason the vbulletin.org show me that I am "unlicensed", yet I did changed my email and updated it here in members area as they asked. I did it this morning but is still doesn't work out for me. I would like to ask, if it is possible to enable users to edit their usernames via UserCP? This might also serve as an option for me - nin the prievous forum, we did import to VB, nicknames and usernames was two different fields, so some users have random usernames used only to login.

You need to check the checkbox to allow vBulletin.org to verify your license status on this page: http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_priority.php
