Hi all, I currently maintain a YaBB 2.1 forum with approximately 223,000 posts, 15,800 topics, 6,000 members, and 4GB of data (98% attachments). I am in the process of converting my forum to vBulletin and have started researching VPS hosting options.

I currently have shared hosting with http://www.IceStorm.com, which has been outstanding.

IceStorm also has a VPS plan at http://www.icestorm.com/vps featuring 512MB RAM / 1GB Burstable. I would have root access to my VPS.

I would imagine these specifications would be more than enough for my forum, but I was wondering what you all thought.

Thanks for any feedback!

Unless you're also getting some management for that price of the VPS it's not worth it, since you could find a cheaper package.

Thanks for the response royo. Yeah I know it is a bit pricey but I am going to try and work out a special deal with the manager. I have been a customer for a long time and I have had many special deals arranged before.

What's your traffic stats? A high traffic with that much data may overload a VPS with 512MB RAM. Just my 2 cents.
