View Full Version : Blog Owner's Responses

On the blog on this site, when the owner of the blog responds, his text box shows in a different color. Is this a standard feature with the blog? If so, how do you change the color or make this option visible? So far, my responses appear like the other posters.

Thanks!

It's available with blog 2.0.1. Do you have it?

I have v 2.0.1, so I look forward to the answer of how to change the color as well, as ours is now hot pink.

Ah thanks, I will upgrade it tonight.

Yeah, I would kinda like to know how to change that too, before people get the wrong impression of their admin:D

You have two options:

Users aren't allowed to change blog design. You can adjust it in the template blog_css for the whole style.

.entryposter {
background:#FFCCFF;
}
Users are allowed to change their blog design and can set their color themselves

Pink with white text here. Can barely read it. Is this supposed to be this way?

. Is this supposed to be this way?

Seemingly it's a feature, not a bug... but by the gods it's horrible. I'm hoping there will be an option to make this go away in the future, as the pink just HAS to go...

I'm not into changing my templates if I don't have too, and it seems that I'll have to now.

.entryposter {
background:#FFCCFF;
}What do I change that to so it's the default color?

If you don't want authors to be recognized, then just remove that bit of text altogether from the template. I have changed the color from pink to blue for the next release.

I really did not anticipate that there would be such backlash to the color since it coordinates with the default style, in my opinion.

I don't have as much of a problem with the pink, as I do with the text being white and almost hidden. I just tested this again using the quick reply and it's white. Where is that changed by default?

.entryposter only changes the background color. Is the text on non owner posts also white?

No, all blog text is black until the blog owner's, which is white (on pink).
Any idea?
Thanks

ADDED:
PS.

Happens on both of my forums.

Where is it calling this color from? I use white in input fields, and body color, etc.

Is it using the body color? Anyone know where it's calling the color from? Thanks

The trouble is not everyone is going to use the default template. On my dark template for example it looks horrible. I've also got an issue where when I select an entry or comment with the check box it does this:

29044

I have no idea where that's coming from, but I sure would like to change it to something that'd fit better.

I agree. This is also happening to me. Where do we alter these style options?

I'm in agreement that this pink is just awful in the least and only found it today and thought it was a problem at first. Than I got on the forum here to see that it was not a problem at all.

I have changed the background colour from that pink to a mid tone, but how and where does one change the colour of the text, white is just to bright on my dark background. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any blog templates. I don't to change the whole theme of the forum, just the blog. Also, I'd like to all my blogs just show up when a user clicks blog. Is it possible? Like a worpress type of thing where all blogs show up on the first page.

I have changed the background color, ew, can you please tell me how to change the font color of the time now. The time in the author posts is grey while the time in all other posts are white. Now that I changed the backcolor I can't see the time the post was made.

Its easier to just remove the below:

.entryposter {
background:#FFCCFF;
} From the blog_css template (your #part may be different)

Thank you for the information here, that is much better now with that removed.

Honestly this should have been a feature that you could turn on and off and pick the color if we did want it on. Thanks for telling us how to fix it though.

Technically, it can be turned off, and on a user by user basis.

All they have to do is set the Poster Reply background to the same as the regular background.

I prefer that to turning it off globally, because it allows my users to have a bit more freedom in regards to the style of their blogs.

As Ryan said, Blog owners have control over the colors in Blog 2.0.2. So they can style it to look just like other comments or use a custom color.

Just visit blog_usercp.php?do=customize on your site.

I don't. And I know how to change it, Wayne Luke, I'm just saying it was a lack of foresight to not offer it as an option in ACP.

Both options (global and local) should be available (and by available I mean easily accessed (ACP, for example), not "here edit this code"), because a lot of people (like the people who made pink the default background color, for instance) don't always think about the fact that some colors don't look good on other colors, or make certain colors of text extremely hard to read. I have several different color schemes, intentionally so because people like different colors, and white text just doesn't go over well on pink, which also looks dreadful on the blue that I am personally using for my site.

I'm not saying don't have the local option, but there should be a global option to disable it completely for those admins who didn't want that option to begin with.

You don't have to edit code, it's part of the Blog Customization feature by finding the "Comment Content Area (Comment Posted by Entry Owner)" section and setting the Background field to the same value as what is in "Primary Content Areas."

Or, you can go the CSS route, and set the default background color as the same color used in alt1, and your users can still allow the background color to change for owner commenting if they so choose.

I'm just saying, what you're requesting is already possible within the current scope of the blog product, and on a user by user basis.

Yes, for a SPECIFIC style. What if not everyone uses that style?

It is a style related option. If you use multiple styles than you would have to change them all or create one specific style to be used as the based blog style and change it there.

Or you could just make it an option that you can turn off and on in ACP. That way admins who don't want to deal with that crap can turn it off if they don't want to, and those that don't care or are happy to screw with it can.

You're free to post this as a suggestion but not sure it would get implemented the way you want. We usually don't make options for style variables.
