Hi, in the next few days I will be switching hosts, and I would like some tips on that.

Ask your host to take care of the migration for you.

LOL, you could do that but then your new host knows about your system and you don't. The absolute best way to learn about vBulletin is to do it yourself and get help if you need it. The next time you have to move, you won't be so worried about it.
Before you do anything about the move, make ABSOUTELY sure you have a full system back of your site safely stored away on your own PC. The steps to move/restore you site to a new location are simple, on the new system create a new database and import your backup to it. Copy you whole file structure to the new system as close as possible to match the old system.
Reconfigure your config.php file to point to the new database (you will likely have a different prefix from the move so you will have to change the config file point to it)and fire it up.
Get into your admincp and modify any changed URLs to point to the new location.
If you try to get into your admincp and it just loops the login screen, you may need to run the tools.php file to get rid of any stale cookies.
You will probably have run some or all of the rebuild counters in your vbulletin maintenance menu.
I am probably forgetting something but this should cover the basics.

My host is going to do it for me, but what about the things that I do?

The ONLY things that you need to do are...
1) Close the vB board on your old server.
2) Change your domain's DNS after the host migrated your site.
3) Let the DNS fully propagate (no action from your part).
4) Enable the board on your new server.
That's all you need to do. Good luck! :)
