It may not be intuitive for members to forward an improper private message to a moderator. Some members may not know that they can do this.

I feel that a "Report this post to a moderator" function for Private Messages will be intuitive, especially for new members. It's more like a click and go thing.

Except the report would be meaningless to the moderators and the admins because they can't read a member's private messages. The very essence of that is because they are private.

I don't see how it is less intuitive the way it is though.. Both require the same amount of action and thought.

Sure it could include the message but still the amount of work required by the end user is the same and the amount of work required by the admin is potentially less since there is no such thing as a moderator for private messages.

Ya, I am suggesting that it will be good to prevent spams or abuse of the private messaging system if members are able to report any improper private message to a moderator using a "Report this post to a moderator" link.

Having this function doesn't mean that the moderators can read all of the member's private messages. The function will only reports that particular private message. It's deemed as improper by the member who received it anyway.

Upon receiving any reports of an improper proper message, the admin can send a warning email or , if needed by circumstances, adjust the private message posting rights of the abusive member.
