Have you started getting more traffic? Or, is your DB saving some things which are clogging it unnecessarily??

Has a member(s) uploaded album pictures as they are stored in the database?
Do you have avatars/profile pictures/signature pictures/attachments stored in the database?

Posts could possibly be cached for a longer period of time, although for this to have happened in this space of time, you would have had to alter the setting for this.
It could be caused by other things though.
It may help if you post the size of each table.
