I am looking into getting a bandwidth server to bascically host images on. This is so I can run my scifi image gallery but also so i can host my vbulletin images and avatars there.
The server is going to be one of those rackshacket.net babies. They give you 300GB/month for a bit over $100.
I am looking for a few people who are interested in using this. The cost would be $10 per 10GB.
If you are interested let me know, i just want a couple of people (maybe 3 or 4) to pay for some of the cost and i will cover the rest and start up.

cheers.

It's jason .. check your ICQ. I was planning on buying one of these within a week or so and sale space for people needing bandwidth. I was just checking a few things out and curious if they have a tool to monitor bandwidth usage per domain good.

unfortunatly some people still believe it :)
300GB/month for $100 is as close to unlimited as I have seen though. Quite an offer.
Jim, what is an Akamai account?

I have to tell you that there is not such thing as unlimited bandwidth, check in their TOS.

yeah, i think it looks something like:
High bandwidth usage: Win2000Hoster offers an unlimited use policy by maintaining very large ratios of bandwidth per customer. In rare cases, Win2000Hoster may find a customer to be using server resources to such an extent that he or she may jeopardize server performance and resources for other customers. In such instances, Win2000Hoster reserves the right to impose the High Resource User Policy for the consideration of all customers.
We are proud to offer our clients non-restricted data transfer. This is considered any transfer of information in the form of text or graphic, directly readable by a web browser. Our intention is to provide a large storage space to serve web documents, not an off-site storage area for electronic files. All web pages (HTML) must be 'linked' with files (.GIF, .JPEG, etc.) that are stored on our servers. Web sites that are found to contain either/or no HTML documents or a large number of unlinked files are subject to warning, suspension or cancellation at the discretion of our administration.
As a note, over 85% of our clients never exceed even 2000 megs of total FTP and web page transfer combined, so you can be assured that our bandwidth is not choked by numerous 'load-heavy' sites. To further protect the integrity of our service, any individual site consistently using 10% or more of the system's resources may be issued a warning or have its account deactivated.

Yes, I did read that. But you'll notice that they never set a number so in essence, yes they have unlimited transfer.

i am glad you added "in essence"
it is not unlimited, you have got to believe that, these companies have to pay for your bandwidth they can't just give you as much as you want free :)
Send them an email pretending to be someone else saying you are running a brittney spears image gallery and currently do 30GB bandwidth. Ask them if you will be ok on their servers.

It's not that important to me specifically. I hardy do any at all. So for me, it's been unlimited since I never use a whole lot to begin with. Now when my vB gets up and if people start to come then that may be a different story:D
