Major needed features!!!!

After converting Ultrabaord to vbulliten board, on my old server, I sigined up for my new server last night, and backuped up vbulliten board on the old server.

when I went to restore the vbulliten board through the control panel, I was meet with no option to restore from backup.

Under ultraboard I could restore from backup under the control panel.

So why is this feature missing from vbulliten board? This is a very needed feature.


I had to go through ours of work today to get the dump file onto the new server.

So please please implent a better backup system that can be restored via the control panel. This will help alot of people.

It isn't there because it is a false feature. If you truly need to restore a backup because of database corruption or other major problems, the chances are almost certain that you will not even be able to access the control panel.

Instead we have put the instructions on how to restore a backup using MySQL in the Admin's Manual located at www.vbulletin.com/manual

well if the db is corrupted, the db would be dleeted or something, and then as clean install of vbulliten board would be done. Then I would go to the control panel, and then restore the old forums/members etc.

thats how is done in UltraBoard.

Well since many users don't seem to have shell access or the host charges to restore a db, I think Jelsoft should include a script in the extras dir that will restore a db....
