I am thinking of buying vBulletin for the site i'm an articles writer for (We intend to get it at some point, but the sooner the better...)

My main question is that the agreement says i am allowed to use:

A vBulletin license grants you the right to run one instance (a single installation) of vBulletin on one web server and one web site for each license purchased. Each license may power one instance of vBulletin on one domain.

Now i'm happy with what that stands for overall, it means i can run one instance of vB at any one time. I am wondering however, if i were to purchase a full version and put it on this site if the site were to not take off if i could uninstall the instance of vB on that server and use it on another site that i work for.

Is this allowable? :)

Many thanks,

Stephen Cutter

I've a question about this as well actually.. Is it ok to install a fresh copy on another machine (not reachable on the web) to rewrite parts of it, fixing the templates etc. while the original one is still running?

and of course bringing the original one down when the development one goes live

Yes. this is fine but you would need to update your domain associated with the license in the member's area. Very easy to do.

A testing copy of VB is fine so long that is what it is. For example if you have www.domain.com/forums installing www.domain.com/forums2 any only using it for testing is not going to be a problem. Same applies for installing it on your home machine to "play".

You are allowed to run 2 vBs, as long as the second one is not accessable at all to anyone except yourself and your admins.
