database error when upgrade from beta 3 to 3.8 gold

Im getting this error while upgrading.

Look at your config.php file. It sounds like you overrode your old with a new, blank one.

The config file was the first file I edited on this update, im sure is not that.

Is the new config file supposed to be upgraded also or is it good to keep th eold one or what?

You can keep your old config file, rarely does it need to change. Try using the old one, if it still doesn't work the issue is related to mysql permissions which only your host can help with.
