Before I attempt this I would like to know it is possible to go from vb to vb.

Yes you can upgrade directly from 3.6.2. Please follow the upgrade documentation here:

I have 3.6.2 modded to the hilt (photopost, arcade, vbadvanced, various stuff i forgot)

I just moved it from one server to another (cluster) and it's causing havoc, lots of computer cycles. I want to start over but save my users and posts. Maybe i narrow down the problem that way

Wouldn't running upgrade screw up all the mods and leave me with a big mess?

Sorry, I was think upgrade not Impex. Impex will not import data from add-ons and should never be used as a substitute for upgrading.

Also I do not know if Impex is updated for 3.8.0 yet. I'll try to find out.

I don't want any add on data, I only want users and posts, the stock forum stuff.

What is the "vb_36" impex system module intended for?

There is no supported option to do that. You could use Impex but it's not a supported function for this and your current links will all be invalid because everything will have new IDs.

What is the "vb_36" impex system module intended for?

Merge imports, where one vBulletin board is assimilating another.

You can use it to import to a blank board, though that isn't what it is really designed for and may cause more issues than you are trying to solve.

Steve and Jerry... Thanks for your help here.

What is the best way to get the users and posts out of one Vb and into another?

Is it upgrade and clean up the mess? Would there even be a mess, would enough files be over written that it returns itself to stock form?

I'm in a similar boat as dobbs (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/member.php?u=70576). I have an older 3.6.x version of vB installed with several mods. I no longer want the mods and would LOVE to have just a clean and basic install of the new and nifty vB. I too thought that IMPEX may be the way to go.

If I am wanting to NIX all the mods to get to 3.8 what IS the best method for doing that?

There is no supported option to do that. Sorry.

What about an unsupported opinion? ;)

(I am looking over on vBorg now)

If anyone cares, I ran the upgrade and it worked flawlessly. I just had to some mod options back to the nav bar.
