I want to have something like this.

I have a categorie for example like "Computers" with subsections like:
AMD based
Intel based
Brand this
Brand that

And another categorie for example "Laptops" with
Toshiba
Acer
IBM

Now I would like to make a link like a post in a forum section to another section.

For example...
When users open the AMD section I want them to see a thread called Toshiba and if they click on it, they will automatically be forwarded to the Toshiba section in the categorie Laptops and then can choose to make a new thread or open an existing thread from the threadlist.

This should be a permanent link.

Can this be done and if yes, how?

It can't be done by make a post and then creating a permanent link, because then people will end up in that post in the linked section and not in the forumdisplay.php of that section.

That will most likely require a modification of the code. I'd try searching vBulletin.org for your answer. :)

I've not seend a mod about that over there, but I can always ask.:)

I had hope there would be a build in option which could do this.
Thanks!

As an alternative, you could include the link in the description of that forum.

Well it seems there IS a build in option. Your tip let me see the light.:)

I was about to enter the link in the description of the forum, but that is not necessary, under the description field there is this field:

Forum Link
(Entering a URL here will cause anyone clicking the forum link to be redirected to that URL)
And that is exactly what I wanted, because you can also put a http://www.yoursite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30 in there.

Great!

So if the moderators want, they can change the prefix to "solved" because I can't anymore, it only get's visible on starting the thread.
