Need suggestions for hosting of my forums

were currently on virtual host but its SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW

gonna have to go dedicated server


i have about 60-150 users online concurrently. 5000 members atm - expecting up to about 10,000

any ideas for good hosting deals?

check out the dedicated packages at www.venturesonline.com

regardless of where you go, with the much traffic, make sure you don't get stuck with an IDE or EIDE hard drive. They don't take too well to overuse.
Also, if you're going to double your concurrent users, make sure and get at least 1 Gb RAM.

what's the big event that will double your numbers?

i'd say go dual p3 933 with 1gb ram and a 36GB scsi drive, that should keep your users and site happy :)

i was assuming that 5k members = 150 users and 10k members = 300+ users assuming members :)

pageviews don't tell alot when it comes to vB?

150 users viewing 100 pages per day = 15,000 pages/day

vs

500 users viewing 30 pages per day = 15,000 pageviews/day

well, I average about 200 or so mostly all day, peaking for a few hours/day at 300, then there are freddies boards, too.

my site alone gets about 100k pv/day right now. it's been steadily increasing since June.

the number of pageviews definitely counts into the server you need.

same here i'm at 100 - 300 users and 8 - 10k visitors/day and 100,000 pageviews/day on VO server and have another 3k visitors/day and 20,000 pageviews/day on my Rackshack.net server :D
