Evening all,

Just curious on something, I've read about something called cleaner.php -- I believe this is part of the impex system. I'm upgrading from 3.6.2 to 3.8.0 b4 but wonder if cleaner will clean the database down to just what the latest version requires, I have a lot of extra info for mods added which won't be needed as they won't work on the newest version. I hate things being untidy so would love to just remove them.

Would this work or would it have to be done manually, if so, can anyone point me in the direction of which tables and fields I'd need to keep?

Thanks,

Jason

No, what cleaner.php does is edit post content to change one string to another.

Ok thanks, I haven't heard of the script before so wasn't sure, so I would now presume if I want to clean the database manually, I'll have to do it by hand? It's not something I mind doing but need to find out what tables/data need to be kept intact.

Thanks,

Jason

Yes, you would have to manually edit the database to remove all changes made by your add-ons.

Ok thats fine, I realise how much work is involved, is there any resources on what tables are present by default? I can just remove what I need to then and check that I'm not removing data thats vital.

Thanks,

Jason

You could install a test copy of vB to a new database then manually compare each table.
