I am having problems upgrading from v 3.7.3 to 3.7.4. I am using hostgator and when I do the FTP I am unsure where to put the "uplaod" files. My forum is currently located under the public_html.

This is a brand new forum with no post's as of yet so I have been playing around with trying to get this to work. I also would appreciate if somebody could give me some insight on how to back up the forum from the hostgator cpanel.

your forums is located in public_html.. then upload everything in the upload folder to that location..

does HG use cPanel?..

I uploaded everything from the upload folder there, but the installation process takes me through everything for 3.7.3 not 3.7.4.

Yes, Hostgator uses cpanel.

you did run admincp/install/upgrade.php & not install.php?.

Yes, I ran install/upgrade.php. It seems like the installer cant find the upgrade files.

what error are you seeing?.. and cpanel has backup in it.

When I run the upgrade I see in the upper right hand corner that it is installing version 3.7.3. I don't get any error.

Change the name of "upload" to "yourforum"
Upload it to public_html

Database backup:
Look for phpmyadmin.
Choose your database for your forum.
Export




When I run the upgrade I see in the upper right hand corner that it is installing version 3.7.3. I don't get any error.
Probably you uploaded the files to the wrong place.
or
Uploaded the wrong version of the software.

Thanks for the help I figured it out! However, It does not seem that it installed patch level 1, only 3.7.4. How do I know if PL 1 is installed? It should show PL 1 at the bottom of the page right?

Check in the Admin CP.
