I've run a VB forum for about 6 years now, and one of the main attractions is people are allowed to have their own "Guild forums"

Guild forums are for gamers who run guilds in games such as WoW, UO, Lord of the rings online etc

I offer them upto 2 public and 2 private forums

When they request a private forum (or 2), I setup a seperate usergroup for those forums, which people then request access to via the group membership area

The main problem I'm having is...well, there's a TON of usergroups now and it's making administration of the usergroup and permissions a real pain (not to mention incredibly slow to load)

Is there an easier way I've not thought of?

Thanks for any guidance

I had tons of that too, with 600 usergroups, it started to get a little slow, and administration of permissions was a nightmare, also, vBulletin doesn't seem to like me to have 600+ usergroups since it started to lag a little.

Since 3.7, with the new "Social Groups" I moved everything into a social group, now with 3.8 they can even have threads in the social group, so that is a good alternative for a "private forum" :)

600....? jeesh! hehe

How many forums did you have in total? I've got..well a fair few
395 to be exact

Social groups are nice, but very very limited.
