Check out http://hosting.datablocks.net
If you signup for a free account and then email the owner, you can get domain hosting for free as well....

You can find the owner's email address on the first page.

Hope I could help!

There are two people on this board(I think) that have had problems with Jumpworld, but I have had none
Have any of you that have experienced problems emailed the tech support, or posted at their MB?

I know freedom2surf http://www.f2s.com offer 20 MB of free webspace, with php 3 installed, and will upgrade to php4 soon. They also provide you 5 MB of MySQL database for free, you can set it up easily.

Actually, unless then just changed it, F2S doesn't offer mySQL... they offer PostgreSQL.

But I know they use to have a script that's available that will rewrite all mySQL instances in your PHP scripts into PostgreSQL revices PHP scripts. (that make sense??)

Acturally, they now use Php 4 with 5 Mb of free MySQL data base, because I noticed my files with php3 was treated differently the other day and have to edit the .htaccess file to make it show up as webpage instead of download it ;)

But you are right, they used to offer PostgreSQL, they are still doing upgrading and stuff, things not yet very stable in their servers, but they are worth the wait.

http://www.spaceports.com - it's maybe a long way to get it...
go there and sign up, then if you are logged in, apply for a cgi-bin account, if you have that one mail to mysql@spaceports.com and include you username and password to get a mysql account.
spaceports is very cool, you can have up to 50 mb of space and 40 gigs of data transfer a month!!!!!!!!

I've mailed them for database,

now,

This server is temporarily offline for maintenance.

Yeah! since 6 October

f2s do not like php's... your files must be php3, and their mysql... in english.... hmm... "extremely old"... yes!, it's right.

http://www.surecity.com nice server. mysql+cgi+php+sqladmin+shellmanager....

I would never ever use free hosting for any type of program or business that requires PHP, CGI that uses password auth., cookies and some type of login. So far I had several sites through free hosting and they sux because they share CGI-BIN and stuff. There is no or little security in FREE HOSTING. I should know since I own a hosting company now.
If I was you I would make sure you have your own private CGI and make sure no one shares anything on your account. Also what can you expect from FREEBIES?

I just set up a spaceports account about 16 hours ago. I already have a database and cgi access - its a weird way to go about getting the stuff, but they responded quickly. I will let you know how good or bad they are.

I should mention that I am not going to use them for any real use - I just wanted a quiet place away from my live site to work on an entire site redo. I figured it would be easier to just get a free account and set everthing up, then download everything and upload everything to the real site when finished.

Actually, F2S is pretty good now, PHP4, and you can upload files that ends with PHP, plus they give you MySQL as well. As long as your site isn't too big, 5MB for MySQL is sufficent.

Surecity is down most of the times I go there though.
