I'm trying to setup a forum
I'm using godaddy as a host.
I've modified config.php, and when I upload it, I just get errors.
Are there a step-by-step instructions anywhere. I've tried the manual, but I feel like I'm missing something.
Also, If I want to customize the screen, should I do that before I upload?

Yes:

The page you tried to access does not exist on this server. This page may not exist due to the following reasons:

Seems you did not upload the vB files yet.

No. Setup your forum first, customizing comes later.

I uploaded them, then this screen came up. So now I went back and erased them all. Thanks for the help.

I know, its wierd. I followed the instructions from godaddy. They have a file manager through their site. I tried doing an ftp through explorer, but it timed out, saying it was going to take 1 day 16 hours to transfer an 11'6 mb file. I'm kind of stumped. thanks

I think I figured it out, when I upload through godaddy, it wont allow me to upload folders, so it only uploads the files. I dont know how to get around it, but I think thats my problem.

So the CoffeeCup finally finished, but now the config file didn't change from a .new extension. I went into includes, and tried to rename it again, but it still wont change. When i did the upload, I transferred the entire folder, so now to access it, I need to go to /forums/upload (ftp://ftp./forums/upload) will this cause problems?
thanks for the help

There should not be a /forums/upload folder

Should be /forums
or /upload

go to

Tools > folder options > second tab ( veiw) > hide extensions for known file types.

un-tick the bax and save it.

So, I just transferred the file to another computer that has XP on it. I was able to change it no problem. Time to see how a new install works out. Is vbulletin suppposed to be compatible with Vista?

You're not showing file extensions in vista, that is the difference.
