Greetings.
I'm curious if vBulletin is currently compatible with Oracle 9i Database and/or Oracle 11i Application Server. I know, I know... The system requirements specify MySQL. :p
If not, are there any plans to allow compatibility with Oracle?
Consider this my official suggestion. :)
Maybe a little background would help...
I'm a member of a large - no, make that gigantic - online gaming community centered around Sierra's TRIBES franchise: TribalWar (http://www.tribalwar.com). We love our vB forums and have well over 1 million posts by more than 11,000 members in almost 2 years. There's a problem though. Anytime a member attempts to use the vB Search feature, the forums slow to a crawl (or crash) and make life miserable. Therefore - no Search feature. :(
I've spoken with the admins (who have posted here asking for help - to no avail) and they are in agreement that the problem lies somewhere in the MySQL programming. In other words, its not something simple like hardware.
Now, I have the capacity to install and configure an Oracle Database and applicable Application Server software, but it would be a wasted effort if the forums didn't work in it. Perhaps the compatibility is already there - that's why I'm here. And if its not, maybe it should be. Personally, I'm confident that Oracle would solve our problem.
Thanks.
