View Full Version : Edit Post Bug (In 1.1.1)

The edit post bug still exists in 1.1.1, it seems just for members (not admins or mods). I just tried to edit my post on this forum and it takes me to a log in screen, I enter my username and password, and it takes me back to the log in screen, and so on and so forth.
Also worth noting, the [edited by...] message doesn't show up when admins or mods edit posts, is this designed behavior?

And I have confirmed this over and over as well. I have successfuly edited a new members post by way of luck I believe:)
A couple of times it will just go right in and let me edit right after posting, but a couple of times (more than not) it took me to the log in screen directly after posting and would not log me in over and over, then if I hit the back button a couple of times, it will let me post again no problem, because I never logged off.
When it did actually edit those couple of times it did include the "[edited by blah blah]" line, but the moderators and admins it leaves without that line.

Any word on this one?
People really dislike not being able to edit their messages.
So does it work here now as well?

So editing is working here, but not at your forums. Are your registered members allowed to edit pages? Are the neccessary permissions set?
I have not yet managed to reproduce the problem - but I am trying.

Did you change something on this forum? Because I tried to edit a bunch of my posts here, but none of them worked the other day...

Yes I do think the permissions are properly set up, but they can only edit every so often, and I did register a test member and reproduced it a couple of times.
Odd, but it also will not show the edited by line for mods or admins.

Ok, I just tried to edit this last post and it would not let me do so. It took me to a log in screen (and I did just post this so I should be logged in), and then I type in my username and password and it does not take it and wants me to continuously try logging in.
And it takes me to this URL, which may help?:

Unfortunetlely that is not the worst of it, the members not being able to edit at all is worse.

This bug still exists and I have expirienced it many time on your forum. The login on your forum that you get directed to (sometimes) when attempting to edit a post has some very invalid html, but works about 80% of the time for me.
On my forum it does not work 10% of the time. I have noticed that the redirect text field sometimes is pointing to:
showthread.php?action=threadid=blahblah
But sometimes it is also:
editpost.php?action=editpost&postid=51871
It also will not log me in when I get directed to the login, and when I hit login it will reload the page, and duplicates the user name and password in the URL, and will do so over and over again with every reload.
I have checked the templates to make sure it was not an error on my part, they are not missing anything, all fields are exactely like yours here.
I also thought I would note that I do not allow users to delete their own posts, but I will allow them to edit.

I am really struggling to reproduce this problem. Are you sure that you are clicking on the edit icon for the correct post? The edit icon is now BELOW the post not above as you may be used to.
If you ever find the login page coming up with invalid HTML, open it up and then email it to me to look at.

Yes it does have invalid html. It does not close a form tag and it has no footer and ending </body></html> tags.
But the funny thing is that no one can edit anything on my forum.

I just sent the source of that page to you so you could see it.

It is still happening on my forum, and it seems even more on yours as well!
Here is the URL after it would not log me in to edit a message, right after I just posted a reply:
http://vbulletin.com/forum/editpost.php?action=editpost&postid=2969&username=werehere&password=blahblah&username=werehere&password=blahblah&username=werehere&password=blahblah
You can see that it just builds itself over and over with every time I try to login.
