Hello I am the Administrator and founder of my site, www.snowandmud.com

My site is just about ready to have its second birthday at the end of September. I have almost 5000 members and 76000 posts.

Lately Ive been getting from 15 - 20 new members every day which is good.
Snow and Mud is site that services Western Canada and North western USA, and we do have members from quite a few other area's as well. At the average time I will have 150 people on line. I do have the odd joker which im sure we all have, and post hogs as well. I even get emails from members that ask to get rid of the Jokers as they talk trash talk and sometimes cross the line. There are all ages on the site from around 12 years old to over 65 years old. My site is growing were some days lately Ive had 800 posts and its hard to moderate all those. Being that its a snowmobile, atv and dirtbike forum its mostly men, there are some women to keep them in line. I have a general discussion forum with "Just about anything goes" in there and have a atv discussion and sled discussion forums as well. The most popular is the Just about anything forum though. Its hard to tell where to draw the line with some of that and when we give a 30 day ban they just come back as someone else too. These forums are an addiction to alot. Its hard when I get emails from a member or two that says the sites out of control and they don't know about letting there children go on. But they could ask there kids not to go to the JAA thread (just about anything) or if the parent requests I can move there kids into a different user group, JR's and they wont see the JAA forum. Im not taking the thread away and the content in there is not bad some guys call others an azz or they might say sh*^# but they dont swear and no nudity in there either. I know I cant keep everyone happy but what did you all do to keep all the members happy.

My forum is http://www.snowandmud.com (http://www.snowandmud.com/)

Any suggestions,

Thanks
RON

I guess you can't keep everybody happy, that's just a fact of life, and honestly, don't waste your time trying too either. Even in the real life "working environment", there will always be moaners no matter how good you make things for them, some people where just born to moan all their life! And are not happy unless they are moaning. Believe me, I work with one!

My advice would be, keep your replys sweet and short. Tell them you run a "laid back" site and do not want to be seen to victimise certain groups like people who might be "jokers" for example. Or even moaners also for that matter (to give them the hint to shut up winning). LOL

You need to set general forum rules. You (and your moderation team) are the one that decides what crosses the line not your members. These rules should apply to all forums. Constantly banning "jokers" is the only way to get rid of them. They will eventually realise it is sad and pathetic and they should find a new hobby :).

I was passing by, saw your thread and had to reply.
First of all, congratulations on your site! I like the colors, format, theme, etc.
I agree with the others that replied, in that you are not going to be able to please everyone that comes to your site. If you try to do that, you’ll make yourself crazy.
It sounds to me that you need some quality admin (or moderator) help with your site. Also, you need a set of rules that potential users must agree to when they register. Be advised that most people will not read the rules when they register, but you need to have and post the rules anyway. Be polite, but never be afraid to manage your site. Get it? Good luck to you. :)
