View Full Version : Javascript error after upgrade to 3.6.10p4

I have just upgraded the dev instance of our forum from 3.6.10 to 3.6.10p4.

In the admincp I go to Styles and Templates/Find Updated Templates and see "All templates are up to date." However, instead of refreshing to the admincp index after a few seconds, I see the following error:

The requested URL /admincp/javascript:history.back(1) was not found on this server.

This was not occurring prior to the 3.6.10p4 upgrade.

I haven't yet looked on the forum for further errors, but fear that there may be other Javascript issues and am reluctant to upgrade our production instance until I find out what's causing this.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

That looks like it's from a customization.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the quick response.

I've followed these steps in order, but I am still getting this error in the admincp.

The only non-vbulletin files found were Itrader plugin php files.
Just FYI, I actually created a new vb directory for the upgrade containing only 3.6.10p4's files, and copied the images directory and itrader files from the old 3.6.10 directory manually, so I know there are no outdated files lying around.

I know that plugins were disabled successfully, because the forum home page is now displaying differently ( a certain plugin element is missing ).

Also, I even went as far to change the new style to the forum default.

I have cleared my browser's cache and cookies and closed and reopened it but still no luck.

I do not see any way to get that error if you follow all of my instructions. Please try again.

I have followed these steps again, and I am still receiving the same error.

Is it possible that something is amiss within the database?

I am going to revert to the original 3.6.10 database and try the upgrade again.

When you run the upgrade script, which version shows in the upper right-hand corner?

Still waiting on the database import, will let you know as soon as it's done.

Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Before I enter the customer number, it sais "Vbulletin 3.6.10 Upgrade System"

After I enter the customer number, I see the following in the upper right hand corner on the first page:

XML File Versions:

vbulletin-style.xml 3.6.10
vbulletin-settings.xml 3.6.10
vbulletin-language.xml 3.6.10
vbulletin-adminhelp.xml 3.6.10

Okay, complete this upgrade then follow the instructions in post #2. I do not see any way to get that error if you do that.

Hi Steve,

I have followed these instructions exactly and am still getting the same error.

I can post screenshots if necessary.

Can you think of anything else that I might try?

Thank you!

What's the URL? I still don't see how this is possible.

This is in the admincp when I click on Styles and Templates/Find Updated Templates. First I see "All Templates are up to date," then the page refreshes to the error

I'm sorry, I assumed you would have gone to forum.gonews.dpdev.net, as posted in the error message in my next to the last post.

The URL is

Thank you. Do you have the same problem with a different browser? What are the results when you run Suspect Files?

And what are these results:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Problematic Webserver Modules

Yes, I am receiving this error in Firefox 3.0 ( Linux ) and IE 6 ( XP ).

Here is the output of Suspect File Versions:
Suspect File Versions
Scanned 49 files
./
itrader.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
itrader_detail.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
itrader_feedback.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
itrader_global.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
itrader_report.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
Scanned 51 files
./admincp
itrader_misc.php File not recognized as part of vBulletin
Scanned 3 files
./archive Scanned 31 files
./clientscript Scanned 3 files
./clientscript/yui Scanned 93 files
./includes Scanned 18 files
./includes/cron Scanned 8 files
./includes/paymentapi Scanned 7 files
./includes/xml Scanned 72 files
./install Scanned 10 files
./modcp

Unfortunately, I don't see "Problematic Webserver Modules" on the Diagnostics page. Any ideas why this might be missing?

All that I do see under diagnostics is

Upload, Email, Suspect File Versions, System Information
