I said that ARIN was being tight and got kind of poo-pooed by the folks here in regards to getting multiple IPs for a server.
Well folks, welcome to the new world:

See "Use of Name-based Virtual Hosting"
Note also that they will be pulling IP space back out of circulation from those hosts that have been giving it out irresponsably.

I don't think it's a big deal... in fact it was needed. I am running many sites on a dedicated server with just 2 IPs, and that's all I will ever need for it.

Oh... not just thight but rather paranoid about the IP usage. They are afraid they will run out of numbers til IPv6 is with us. SILLY! Why not just give all the IP's out the sooner the better so we can start using the new system, it needs to be PUSHED that's for sure when we have some incompetent people deciding when and where it is to be released. Tss...

I have literally thousands of web sites hiding behind less than five IP addresses. Why be wasteful?

well i already stated why i needed unique ips over at sitepointforums...
one point brought up was using an ip site to test/move a site to a new server before the dns changes are made..
rackspace.com my host recently implemented this policy just when i requested more ips :(
