Importing large forums

We are in the process of trying to switch from snitz to vbulletin but the impex script is taking SO long when you have a huge forum. Its basically taking 3 full days of transfering data to get into vbulletin which the downfall is as soon as its imported its out of date. So I had a idea which I am not sure if its doable which is why I wanted to post here and get someone's opinion.

1. Turn off posting on the live database
2. Create a backup of the database
3. Restore the backup to another database
4. Archive all posts that are older then 15 days
5. Transfer entire forum (minus archive) using impex
6. Switch domain over to run on vbulletin so now everyone is using the live site
6. Delete all unarchived posts
7. Delete all members so it doesnt have to transfer 100,000 members
7. Move all archived posts to not being archived
8. Archive all posts older then 120 days
9. Transfer only posts and topics that are now between 15-120 days
10. Go back to step 6 and do the entire forum

Basically what my thought is, is to get everyone over quick using only the most current posts. Then if impex does watch ID numbers it wouldnt matter if people are posting on vBulletin as all the posts will get mixed together but the date will keep them in order.

Hopefully this makes since, does anyone have any opinions?

What size is your forum ?

And have you tested an import with these settings :

What you are talking about is a differential import and not currently supported.

100,000 users I'd expect to take 15-20 mins on an average server.
