Someone please help! not being able to post is detrimental to my site.:(

Assuming that are using 3 or more characters, not including BB Code and smilies, then this is from an add-on.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it. Do you have the same problem?

I have done this and all seems well not a plugin. its something to do with the WYSIWYG editor. When i take it off of Standard + WYSIWYG and just place it on Standard controls only it seemed to correct the posting issue, but it keeps making the ranks and some smiles disappear until someone post. then they will come back and then there gone again.

You cannot get that error with the default vB files, templates and no add-ons. What does suspect files show?

Also you will need to remove the .htacess changes made by vBSEO and any other add-ons.

Ok i removed all the XML files and put the code of string in to turnoff all plugins. Everything works.

so i started putting stuff back. i started with only the XML files that come with Vbulletin and put the original configuration file back.

so the same thing is still happening but in the AdminCP area i have this error message now.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/admincp/index.php(414) : eval()'d code on line 1

Im going to shut off all the plugins manually and see what happens.
Would the best way to do this be the plugin manager or disable the products?

Yes i see that but after i do all this my site works but how do i start the narrow down process and re installation of the plugins?

the last question i have is why does it say that some of the original files i just uploaded like the xml files that come with vbulletin. it says that they are not vbulletin files? i got them directly off of the site.

Those are all valid vB files.

You would have to remove that lines, then disable each plugin individually. After that you can re-enable one at a time for testing.

I have done everything you said and it didn't fix it and then i even created a new style like you said and that was a no go also.

Everyone always uses line numbers when they talk about code and stuff Is there a recomended editor to use that i can just search the line number?

You cannot get that error with the default vB 3.7.2 index.php file. So either you are running a different version or that file has been modified.

is it not possible to change this to allow shorter messages?
